Apply Filters

Filters allow you to improve image quality by applying some visual effects.
Blur filter softens an image. It dithers the sharp lines and edges, and smoothes color transitions. This filter is useful for eliminating noise where significant color transitions occur. You might use Blur filter for retouching an image. By applying Blur filter, you can mask small imperfections like dark dots.
Sharpness filter is useful when you want to provide more details in your image. It produces a counter effect to the Blur one. Use Sharpness filter to sharpen the image contours, focus an image, and improve its clarity.
Descreen filter can be used to to remove dotted or “crosshatch” patterns (moire patterns) that generally occur when scanning images from newspapers or magazines. You can use several descreen grades for finer or coarser dot patterns.
  • If your device supports only Lineart B/W and/or Halftone B/W mode, you cannot apply the Blur and Sharpness filters.
To apply filters, in the Options Panel, click Filters bar. The Filters tab will appear.
From the Filters tab, you can blur, sharpen or descreen the whole image:
  • Drag the Blur slider to apply Blur effect. Dragging to the right makes the image more blurry. The leftmost slider position applies no Blur filter.
  • Drag the Sharpness slider to apply Sharpness effect. Dragging to the right sharpens the image. The leftmost slider position applies no Sharpness filter.
  • Drag the Descreen slider to apply various grades of Descreen. To apply Descreen filter to coarser dot patterns, drag the slider to the right; to apply it to finer dot patterns, drag the slider to the left. The leftmost slider position applies no Descreen filter.
