Descreen

Use Descreen to minimize the appearance of unsightly interference patterns (moire patterns) which may occur in your image file when scanning original documents created by a halftone process. With Descreen you can minimize the transfer of moire patterns into your image file and avoid the checkered, banded, or dotted appearance. When you apply Descreen filter, the effect is applied to the whole image, and you cannot apply it to the selection.
To apply Descreen filter, drag the slider to a position that suits the type of document you scan. When the slider is in the leftmost position, no descreening will be applied. Dragging the slider to the right increases descreening effect to be applied to the scanned image. When you scan high-quality art prints, select the position next to the leftmost. To scan the images from glossy magazines, drag the slider to the right to until you reach the position preceding the rightmost one. To scan the coarse images like newspaper photos, drag the slider to the rightmost position.
